In June Dr Deshpande attended the Royal College of Psychiatrists International Congress 2021 event to deliver a presentation entitled “Comparison of Intermittent Theta Bursts and Standard High Frequency Protocols For rTMS In Patients With Depression In A Clinic In Manchester, UK”.

This presentation was given to show the results of our research into the effectiveness of intermittent theta burst stimulation vs standard high frequency protocol.

In our research, we used the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS) to determine the response of two groups of 8 patients to the different types of treatment.

Our conclusion was that intermittent theta burst stimulation was far superior to standard high frequency protocol in our patients. Although we saw these results, there is an appreciation that more robust research is required on larger sample sizes.
